Forgiveness: The Heart of the Gospel

Today's readings challenge us on the subject of forgiveness. Peter asks Jesus, "Lord, how often must I forgive my brother? As many as seven times?" And Jesus answers, "Not seven times, but seventy-seven times." Forgiveness is not weakness — it is the strongest act a human being can perform. It breaks the cycle of hatred and opens the door to healing.
